While notification definitely needs work, NotificationPlugin isn't exactly what I want to have as the standard. I have some ideas of my own I'd like to develop and put up for comparison; if they don't work out then this decision may well end up being reversed. For now, please have some (more) patience.

If we decide we need to get Cairo out before I can solidify the ideas I've got floating about, then this is definitely a win and I think we'll probably end up taking it on.

MailerContrib's mailnotifier is a logical enhancement to the current mailnotify script, which it will replace.
