• (rhk) Seeing through the Linux-Windows TCO comparisons; Joe Barr; 19 Dec 2002 -- although I expected an article on how to make your own TCO calculation, it is not that -- it is more a list of Microsoft gotchas -- extra costs you might run into if you use Microsoft -- talks about the possibility that Austin, Texas is paying twice for each copy of Microsoft it uses (with the computer, then with the license agreement) -- other things include the cost of insurance to cover the $151,000 per incident cost of using unlicensed Microsoft products. There are a bunch of documents linked from the first page of the article, like the agreement with the city of Austin.
