Question

I am trying to perform a manual installation and configuration of Perl modules. In CPAN part, it asks for the rebuilding and unpacking of latest.tar.gz. After this when I issue “perl makefile.pl” command it gives an error that the file or directory not found. But I can see that the makefile.pl is found in all the subfolders. When I try to individually run each file it gives another error mentioning that the file should be away from the tree view.

Environment

TWiki version: TWikiRelease02Sep2004
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: kernel 2.7.3
Web server: Apache 1.3.33
Perl version: 5.8.6
Client OS: MS Windows XP
Web Browser: IE6
Categories: Installation

Answer

Manish, this is a question for the maintainers of the CPAN module in question, not for the TWiki support line.

However, I personally use:

perl -MCPAN -e shell
to do all CPAN installations. It tends to look after things pretty well, even when using an alternative install path (see the documentation).
