Question
Hi all, I'm pretty new to wiki and was wondering whether it's possible to password protect a page. I know access to view or change a page can be set using ALLOWCHANGE, ALLOWVIEW etc, but what I'm after is an extra layer of security so that certain registered twiki users can access a particular page/topic within a web only if they have the correct password. Is this possible?
The twiki we've set up is a hosted one, so would I need to ask my host to set this up if it IS possible? or can I do it from my end?
Thanks!

If you answer a question - or have a question you asked answered by someone - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status is in a drop-down list below the edit box.
I don't know of any mechanism
within TWiki to allow this. But assuming you're using Apache, you could set up a
directive in your .htaccess file.

If you need "an extra layer of security" you shoud declare an extra security group, and put all those "certain registered twiki users" inside that group. You can also attach a password protected file (a word documento or a .rar).

Thanks Martin & Enrique, I'll check with my wiki host to see if they're using Apache and whether they can set up something with the .htaccess. In regards to that "extra layer of security" I know I can set up an extra security group but I'm not wanting that - say we share computers at work, and our internet browsers' set up to remember our username and password for the wiki for convenience. The extra layer of security is to prevent low access users who manage to sign on as a user with higher permissions from altering/accessing pages that have more sensitive information.
Thanks!
