Feature Proposal: User Bookmarks for Better Usability
Motivation
A few versions back, TWiki introduced a <wikiname>LeftBar to keep track of favorite pages, or bookmarks. This was later used by the
TopMenuSkin, which shows the bookmarks in the Account pulldown menu. Although a good start there are some drawbacks:
- No easy way to bookmark a page
- No easy way to remove or rearrange bookmarks
- Users need to be familiar with TML to create links
Description and Documentation
This proposal adds an easy to use bookmark feature to TWiki, replacing the <wikiname>LeftBar feature.
- Each user gets an optional <wikiname>Bookmarks page, based on a template page
- For logged in users, the Account pulldown menu has:
- a "----- Bookmarks -----" menu item, leading to the <wikiname>Bookmarks page
- a "Bookmark this page..." menu item to bookmark the current page
- a list of up to 16 bookmarked pages
- Users can edit the bookmarks in the <wikiname>Bookmarks page using the edit table feature (add, delete, move bookmarks)
