Hey all, Now I'm using a different machine every day and not reading TWiki.org by the hour wink I am having trouble keeping track of where I was in the conversation.

Two problems:

  1. WebChanges only shows the last 50 or so items, more than 50 often pass without me revisiting.
  2. All my 'read' marks are gone as I'm moving about

Can anyone help me with suggestions?

Thanks smile

On our previous task tracking database, every time you visited a page, that page would append your name to its access list (on the server). When the page was edited and saved by someone, the list would be cleared. Then when you looked at pages in the index, an icon would be next to the pages if they did not have your id on their access list.

Problem is, everytime you opened a page it would reload and save your id to the access list (though I am sure this could be done some other way). How do you flag changes to pages when your not looking at the purpose built list of changes (ie how do you flag a link within a page).

The system worked fine with half a dozen users - probably impractical on a site like twiki.org though.

This sounds like ConversationTracking to me, but it's still a very open issue as to how best to solve it. One issue with any such tracking tool is that users will need to be authenticated even for browsing, as with webmail sites.
