I just saw the reference to Google Smackdown in UserUnfriendly and after checking it out, thought it might be interesting to pit TWiki against some of its wiki competitors.

summary table of all results. Note that the results vary over time; they are after all only an estimation.

contender rank
twiki 391000
phpwiki 141000
tikiwiki 130000
kwiki 19700
usemodwiki 3230
blog 9930000
wiki 3820000
zope 1950000
twiki 403000
wiki 4030000

btw, it would be nice if sorting would work with thousands separators in the "rank" column...

  • twiki (391,000)
  • phpwiki (141,000)
  • tikiwiki (130,000)
  • kwiki (19,700)
  • usemodwiki (3,230)

Hey, that's fun!

  1. blog (9,930,000)
  2. wiki (3,820,000)

Here is the one that bothers me...

  • zope (1,950,000)
  • twiki (378,000)

why would that bother you? Zope is much more than a wiki. -- anonymous - 14 Feb 2004

Indeed, but TWiki is much more than a wiki also. I see Zope and TWiki in the same space, see TWikiMission.

Also, the searches seem to somewhat depend on time, see Lynwood's result for twiki vs. mine....

  • wiki (4,030,000)
  • twiki (403,000)

curious, exactly one order of magnitude difference for twiki vs wiki (for this hour anyway).
