Motivation

There is no easy way to rename an attachment. Sometimes an attachment is initially uploaded hastily for reference or archival reasons but it is later discovered it was improperly named (multiple revisions later). The only work around I could determine was to 1) have Linux admin directly modify the attachment and relevant pointer/history files directly or 2) upload a new version of the file and move the old to trash, which of course loses history.

Allow rename of attachments while preserving file history and referenced links.

Discussed at KampalaReleaseMeeting2015x03x05: This is a sensible enhancement request. It needs a committed date and developer. If this is important to you, you could hire a TWiki Consultant to implement that in a timely manner.
