Personal Roadmap for Peter Thoeny

The last few weeks have shown that not everybody bought into the idea of working towards a win/win/win for community/users/sponsors as I envisioned last July. I will be taking off for one week for reflection. I will not participate in any twiki.org discussions for 7 days unless there is something really urgent popping up. Feel free to contact me via e-mail during this time. When I return I will focus on what I currently consider most important for our community:

  • Broaden our community
  • Help define a process to recruit and coach new contributors
  • Help refine our development process to lower the barrier to start contributing
  • Help make twiki.org more accessible to the personas we identified
  • Work on gaining trust within the community
  • Help make twiki.org a fun place to hang out!

PS: Please be supportive to new developers. For example, SopanShewale is showing interest in helping out in the core code.

PPS: Please consider the face-to-face time at the TWikiCommunitySummit2008Q1 in mid Feb. Good opportunity to build up relationships and processes.

Discussion

Peter, I hope you have an excellent seven days, and I'm sure it will help clear the air after the recent stressful debates. I think your goals are excellent, and will do what I can to help you realise them. Kenneth's idea for a TWikiDeveloperSchool is, IMHO, a great idea and an initiative we should all get behind. Unfortunately I am unable to make it to SF, but look forward to reading about the conclusions of that summit.
