From their web site:
FastCGI is a language independent, scalable, open extension to CGI that provides high performance without the limitations of server specific APIs.
Feedback, anyone?

Since my hosting service
Dreamhost recently put me on "probation" for using excessive server resources for my TWiki sites, I'm interested in revisiting possible use of
FastCGI (which Dreamhost offers by default) with TWiki. Anyone have any experience or thoughts about this? I've found one person's notes
here
about a partial effort in this direction.
It would be great to at least hack the
view script to work with
FastCGI but lacking any coding skills, I can't comment on how difficult this would be. Any feedback would be most welcome! I'd hate to think of TWiki becoming a "wiki non grata" on Dreamhost!

You might want to look at
SpeedyCGI, which doesn't require code changes, and may now work with Dreamhost. Also, how about deploying the
TWikiCacheAddOn, which should definitely speed things up?

Unfortunately we cannot install this package on our shared hosting
servers. We currently have
FastCGI support enabled, and I believe the
appropriate perl modules to help you make use of it. Let us know if that
is not the case and we will get them installed immediately.
I've emailed Dameon of

and
AddFastCGISupport fame, it'd be nice to know whether he got it working.
