Discussion
Do not concentrate too much on how the icons fit with the content - it's more about the general apporach to use icons to make the page look more attractive.

Be careful to make sure there are documented permissions to use the logos. Copyright holders can get a bit shirty if you abuse them.
--
CrawfordCurrie - 29 Jul 2008
Good point. It was meant as a placeholder but that wont help in case of a complain. I remove them until we get some kind of permission...

I like this effort a lot.

On logos, we have used them on
http://twiki.net/customers.html
. Note that these logos travel freely on the internet. We can "ask for forgiveness" if a company disapproves.

The TOC takes too much space... could it be floated to the right?

RafaelAlvarez - 12 Aug 2008
I think the page needs more balance between providing information and guiding to other pages. For instance, "Who is using TWiki" is a separate page and should not get too much space on this page.
The sections with the icons are a bit too short, too low on information to trigger. We must also be careful to not use too much marketing blurbs, users are not fooled and are easily offended.
Plone does this - guiding users to deeper pages - for examples at
http://plone.org/about
, although those page are a bit dry. We could have something inbetween.

"Examples of TWiki usage" could be changed for "TWiki can be used for..." Does this page have an owner, or it should evolve "wiki style"?
--
RafaelAlvarez - 08 Sep 2008
No owner, just me who started it. Feel free to change

I have used this page for the first design of
TWikiOrgSkin (plus some copywriting in there). But I have yet to find a place for the
piece de resistance "Examples of TWiki usage". Using that design the danger is that links to subpages are pushed too far down.
--
ArthurClemens - 08 Sep 2008
Changed the heading text from "Examples of" to "TWiki can be used as". Also added two anchored links to the sections below.

I have updated the skin design at
TWikiOrgSkin with examples of TWiki usage and a quote.
