Devel::NYTProf - Perl Profiler

CPAN:Devel::NYTProf is an adavanced, line-by-line Perl code profiler with built-in report generation capability. The statistics collected can then be run through one of the included reporting modules to produce detailed reports. An HTML reporter generates a page for each module profiled.

Discussion

I can highly recommend this profiler. It is powerful, yet easy to use.

I ran it on the TWiki view script on twiki.org (click on the screenshot to the right). It shows that the password manager and user mapping manager impose a big performance impact, e.g. the current user handling does not scale well to the 50K users on twiki.org. There is lots of room to improve the performance of TWiki.

I recommend to review the profiler data and optimize code in TWiki.
