This is not even a rough draft -- I started to respond to an email (copied below), then realized I wanted to gather more information before sending a response. This page is a collection point for that information (and a few sentences I started writing as the response).
Things to gather:
- Pick a good Wikilearn or TWiki web page as examples of what can be done with documentation. Include some with sketches.
- Collect a web address for the ldp wiki, and some words about the intent and current status.
Start of response:
I don't want to do anything to derail your efforts to get a manual put together, and that is not the intent of this note.
The intent is to suggest that you consider using a wiki.
I may have known at one time, but I forget -- is Hercules open source or free software, or is it proprietary? What license(s) is it available under?
The reason I ask is that the ldp (Linux Documentation Project) has started to develop a wiki specifically to aid in the authoring process.
