SID-00982: VMware Server 1.x

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: Perl version:
Category: CategoryInstallation Server OS: CentOS 5.5 x64 Last update: 15 years ago

Hello,

I have a dedicated virtual server (VMware Server 1.x) for one of my clients and to it I would like to add your appliance (TWiki) I downloaded from vmware.com. For some reason, when I attempt the start the virtual machine, I am greeted with nothing more than a black screen and the machine will not boot or accept mouse/keyboard input. The host machine is comprised of (2) AMD Opterron 6172s and 64GB of Ram. It runs two domain controllers, and IDS box, and multiple other machines flawlessly.

Thanks in advance.

Discussion and Answer

I do not recommend to use the Debian based TWiki on vmware.com, it is very much outdated and does not contain important security fixes. If you want to roll you own, i recommend to install TWiki natively on a RedHat or CentOS client OS. If you want to get up and running quickly and get professional support I recommend to use the Twiki OnSite Enterprise Agility Platform.
