Question

I have set up Twiki for my company's intranet. Is it possible to use your individual page (ie the one created when you register) as you own web site? That is, can I give a specific url that would allow my friends to only view my page from the outside? If so what security measures should be taken to prevent hackers, etc..?

  • TWiki version:Dec 2000, Mar 2001
  • Web server: Apache 1.3.12
  • Server OS:Linuz (Debian)

Answer

Your personal page is hosted in the same way as other pages on your website, i.e. it will only be visible from the Internet if that site is.

If you want to host a personal page on TWiki, you should put this on an Internet-located TWiki - if they are running recent versions of TWiki, there are some access control features, see TWiki.TWikiAccessControl, but the TWiki access control is best used to limit writing, not reading. For public TWiki sites, see TWikiClones.
