Point of Confusion
I do know that some people have trouble with rpm because they confuse the package name with the program name or vice versa. I think in some commands you specify the (exact) package name including all revisions, in others I think you just specify a program name.

"test uninstall":
rpm -e --test xxx (where xxx=rpm package name)
Update the Database
As root:
#rpm --rebuilddb
