If you check kdict, you will find pages of definitions for point as a noun or verb. I don't thing there's an entry in the Jargon Dictionary (or whatever it's called) or any other dictionary that I've found so far that deals with the meaning of point when used in phrases like:

• "point your browser at"
• <need to think of some more examples, like when creating a link to some other page, directory, file, whatever>

In this sense, some of the closest synonyms I can think of are "direct" and "redirect" --
