The
Enabling Authentication of Users section says that
Redirect /urlpath/to/TWiki/index.html must be set. But in the install process there is no mention to uploading this file (which
is included in the distribution files), or where to put it. I supouse that as it is going to be redirected it is no relevant if it exists.

In the
Enabling Authentication of Users, the use of the
access.conf for the
twiki/bin directory is only for root owned wikis.

I made those changes above. The index.html, docs, and other stuff in the root TWiki dir are properly noted in the File System Appendix, but it's a different table here. As noted, pretty obvious, but there's a use for the first level index.html. Also there's now a separate page for hosted accounts installations, including RCS instructions, that just has to be checked and moved over from Codev - then the root and virtual instructions can be completely separate, which should make things that much clearer all round. I will not change the date on this document from 01-Dec-2001 in the first paragraph until some has taken the time to review it for changes for 01-Feb-2003 (
BeijingRelease).

WebChangesAlerts: I followed the instructions on this page when installing TWiki for the first time but was perplexed as to why
WebChangesAlerts were not working as the instructions seemed to imply that it should work out-of-the-box. When I looked into the problem I found
TWikiSiteTools which contains the missing information I needed to complete the set up for
WebChangesAlerts, but there is no link to this information from this page. There is now

Thanks Tim, you read my mind, however I didn't see any change above. I've added a little note about this in Step four above.

GrantBow - 09 May 2003
Can we change Step4 to be clearer about where to edit the settings? I think it should say something like:
From your web browser, edit the
TWikiPreferences topic in the
TWiki:TWiki
web (by pointing your browser at:
http://yourdomain.com/twiki/bin/view/TWiki/TWikiPreferences
)
to set the WIKIWEBMASTER email address, and
[etc]
because the location of the webs and the mapping of real Wiki pages has not really be explained in the install docs up to this point.
