SID-02466: Links not working

Status: Asked Asked TWiki version: 5.0.0 Perl version:
Category: CategoryEditing Server OS: Last update: 4 years ago

Hi,

I have quite a few active links on my TWiki page, each one going to a PDF file. The all go to a folder (called Tips of the Day) and subfolder (called Excel) on our server, and the majority of these links work fine.

However, there are nine such links that are not working. I have verified that the name of the pf is correct in the link, and have used as far as I can see the same coding in them as I use in the ones that work. If there is a typo I cannot find it.

Here is a link that works and opens up a document entitled CHARACTER_MAP_IN_WINDOWS.pdf:

:[[CHARACTER MAP IN WINDOWS|file:///O:/IT%20Support%20Information/Tips%20Of%20The%20Day/Excel/CHARACTER_MAP_IN_WINDOWS.pdf]]

Here is a link that does not work:

:[[ALIGNING TWO OR MORE CHARTS IN EXCEL|file:///O:/IT%20Support%20Information/Tips%20Of%20The%20Day/Excel/ALIGNING_TWO_OR_MORE_CHARTS_IN_EXCEL.pdf/]]

Any help would be appreciated.

Discussion and Answer

I am wondering why those links would work, they do not follow the TWiki double-bracket link syntax. Here is the proper [[link][label]] format:

[[file:///O:/IT%20Support%20Information/Tips%20Of%20The%20Day/Excel/CHARACTER_MAP_IN_WINDOWS.pdf][CHARACTER MAP IN WINDOWS]]

[[file:///O:/IT%20Support%20Information/Tips%20Of%20The%20Day/Excel/ALIGNING_TWO_OR_MORE_CHARTS_IN_EXCEL.pdf][ALIGNING TWO OR MORE CHARTS IN EXCEL]]

Thanks Peter. When I tried substituting your link for Aligning Two or More Charts in Excel the link showed up like this:

file:///O:/IT%20Support%20Information/Tips%20Of%20The%20Day/Excel/ALIGNING_TWO_OR_MORE_CHARTS_IN_EXCEL.pdf][ALIGNING TWO OR MORE CHARTS IN EXCEL

rather than like this: ALIGNING TWO OR MORE CHARTS IN EXCEL

Please check your plugins. I suspect a plugin might render those non standard links, and might interfere with the common square bracket links.

I just checked WikiMatrix. It looks like you either have DokuWiki or PmWiki, not TWiki smile
