SID-01965: Authenticates with Firefox but not IE

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.0.2 Perl version: 5.8
Category: CategoryAuthentication Server OS: AIX Last update: 11 years ago

Hello. TWiki 5.0.2 on AIX. I made a copy of a TWiki site from one box to another. Done it many times before, always works like a charm. Using TWiki form-based authentication, with the .htpasswd file in the background. On this new site, having a little problem. If I use Firefox, I can authenticate/log-in. If I use IE8, it doesn't let me log-in - it just takes me back to the topic without registering the credentials. If I put in a bad password, it denies me, so I know I'm getting in there somewhere. Any suggestions on where to look for the problem? Merci!

Discussion and Answer

Looks like the problem is that the hostname has an underscore ('_') in it, and IE does not handle that well. Another victory for Microsoft.
