SID-01793: Search Ranking

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: Perl version: 5.10.1
Category: CategorySearch Server OS: CentOS 6.4 Last update: 12 years ago

I've got users asking if there is any "ranking" on searches. I googled around this morning and found a bunch of discussions on this topic back about 5 years ago, but nothing recent.

I've suggested that the users use tags and the advanced search options, but was wondering if there is anything else available.

I'm on 5.1.4

Thanks!

Discussion and Answer

There is currently no built-in ranking on search. You could index your TWiki with a search appliance such as GSA.

Alternatively, you could organize content by adding meta data to every topic using TWikiForms. That allows you to do meaningful queries, such as "show me all articels relevant to new hires in marketing". I create custom solutions like this for clients, contact me if interested.
