Question
Hi!
We've got a web - let's call it
Apple web - and because we now also publish articles about pears we would like to rename it to
Fruit web. Using the rename tool from the
WebPreferences topic of this web, I managed to rename the web and all the links pointing to topics in this web - so far so good. However, if I leave all the tickboxes in the rename tool under the heading = Change links in topics that refer to= enabled, it also renames all occurrences of
Apple in the titles and subtitles of these topics. This is of course not what we want. Is this a bug of the rename tool or is there a way around?
Thanks for your help!

Answer
If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.
That looks like a bug in the rename tool. Please file a
bug report
.
Options to fix this:
- edit every topic (time consuming)
- install and use the GlobalReplacePlugin
- restore from backup and rename the web on the shell level: SSH login to the server, rename
twiki/data/Apple to twiki/data/Fruit, and rename twiki/pub/Apple to twiki/pub/Fruit. You need to fix links pointing into the Apple web manually.

Thanks! I filed a bug report under
Bugs:Item4664
.
About the options you're suggesting: The first and last option aren't viable in my situation as they are very time-consuming (the web isn't very large but still). As a next step I going to check out the
GlobalReplacePlugin.
BTW I had a backup - so it was straight-forward to restore the old setup (before the rename).
