Question

What is the maxium length for a Web name?

The documentation say 8 characters, but i have seen twiki's out using more characters for a web. I also tried using 10 character, and it seem to work.

Also, can web names be wikinames (and what is the impact)?

Environment

Server OS: Linux
Web server: Apache

Answer

There is no hard limit in the length of a TWiki web. In practice it is better to chose short names since a VeryLongWebNameMakesUrlsEvenLonger. People frequently send TWiki links in an e-mail, and a well known company in the northwestern US makes a popular e-mail client that cuts long URLs apart.

TWiki supports WikiNames for Web names since the last production release, the one you are using.
