Question

What is the status of the ImmediateNotifyPlugin?

• Is it working and stable?
• Is there documentation somewhere that tells me clearly how to use it (sorry, but the original documentation is not sufficient for me -- a software professional but TWiki novice -- to figure things out).
• Are there clear, working examples that use it -- topics and setup? This would be as good or better than improved documentation.
• Is it installed on this server?
• Is there anything else I need to know to try it out?

I ask because this feature -- topicwise notification -- is crucial to the applications of TWiki that I am investigating.

Answer

I'm ashamed to admit that it's currently most definitely not ready for prime-time. The current distribution works for some, but it's not installed here and I'm pretty sure there are some bugs to be worked out. I don't know of any quality documentation or even good examples of it in use, but as the original author I can try and help you out if you decide to use it and have any specific questions. You may want to look at EmailNotificationEnhancements to see if there are any other solutions that will work for you.

I hope to be able to fix it up soon (within a month or so) but it's hard to device whether to prioritize above some of my other current projects for the time I have to spend on TWiki. However, I think perhaps I shall, because it does add some important functionality to TWiki, and it's truly in a pretty sad state at the moment.
