Question

I've created a template topic, but I can't figure out how to change the contents of the topic in a way that modifies the template itself. I've made several changes to the topic but whenever I create a new topic using the template then changes are not showing up.

Answer

ALERT! If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.

Templates only come into play when topics are first created; after that, TWiki quite forgets that the template was ever involved, and editing the new topic will have no effect on the template. You have to go MyFancyTemplate (whatever you called it). You can use the jump box or your own WebTopicList.

If you want to change the layout on the fly you might want to look at TWikiSkins customization, such as PatternSkinCustomization.
