Question

The case of mysterious disappearing text. Perhaps somebody can explain this please... wink

I had the text J -dot- ROOT-SERVERS -dot- NET in a topic, and it appeared thus:

J.ROOT-SERVERS.NET - edit this topic see what's really here.

Where's my J gone???

Thanks.

Answer

This is a confusing "feature" of autolinking. Three (four, five..) letter acronymns are linked automagically like RCS. That works also across webs with the "Web.Topic" rule like RCS, in which case the web is not shown.

If you type J.ROOT-SERVERS.NET you will get ROOT-SERVERS.NET because "J.ROOT" is a valid link to a topic called ROOT in web J.

Workaround: Escape autolinking with a preceeding <nop> like <nop>J.ROOT-SERVERS.NET
