Could you please include an example of how this plugin works? I take it you could place some cool functionality to a page with this plugin, e.g. google gadgets?

See
http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/
for code examples.

The package form was missing in the contrib topic, I added it. Please review the settings.

FYI, There is a new version of the YUI available (2.2.0):

working on it, and playing with the JS table sorting classes.
btw, for an example, see
JSPopupPlugin

JS sorting would be great next to the current TablePlugin sorting as fallback.

We are now at YUI version 2.2.2.

Feedback on the contrib topic:
* Better to escape the header link (linking to itself is confusing)
* Under "Installation Instructions" it would be helpful to have the standard "you do not need to install anything on the browser..." blurb

When upgrading this contrib to the next version of YUI, do you think it would be better if we kept the previous version of YUI in the contrib as well? So when this is next upgraded to 2.3.0, we would have two versions of YUI in the pub directory, one for 2.2.2 and one for 2.3.0. That way plugins and skins that depend on this contrib won't have to be tested again as soon as the contrib is updated, they can do it when they're ready.
This is particularly important as the YUI includes a lot of components marked as beta (Rich Text Editor, Datatable and the YUI Loader being ones I find interesting for use in TWiki), and new versions of YUI will change their API.

attachments are versioned....
God, can you imagine debugging a TWiki setup in which there are 2 or more versions of the yui libraries being used on a page?
it would be much safer for you to pick which version of
YahooUserInterfaceContrib you want to install, and stick with it, than to try to load a web page that somehow tries to load version 2.2.2
and 2.3.0 so as to satisfy the desires of differently tested plugins.

Are there any plans to use YUI for more things twiki? I know there are discussions about this scattered throughout, but I couldn't find much solid. I think this framework is very powerful. I upgraded mine to 2.5.2, which adds tons of new things, so I think the contrib should be updated. I would do it (if I'm allowed), but I know several other things depend on the currently posted version 2.2.2. For example,
JSPopupPlugin doesn't work with 2.5.2 out of the box. I made a comment there...

In my case, I switched to using
DojoToolkit more, but I have tossed updating YUI on my pile of TODOs.

Docs are missing.
The link for Documentation at
YahooUserInterfaceContrib is to
%ATTACHURL%/docs/index.html and there is no such attachment.

I updated
YahooUserInterfaceContrib to 1.5.2 the other day

The current release includes all the examples and the documentation. Is this intentional or should it only contain the minified JS?

AndrewRJones - 18 Sep 2008
I've had complaints in either direction

so yes, whatever's in the package is whats supposed to be in the package.
