The solution for client data posting was easy with Twiki. E-mail and other communications possibilities have shortcomings not encountered with the use of Twiki. Clients with websites can enter information for harvesting by the developer.

A problem encountered often between a developer and client is the differential between knowledge bases. A client may not fully understand how to operate applications well enough to overcome the frustration inherent in learning to use a tool. Thereby making the task a dual one, creating content and controlling the application.

Twiki has a number of benefits for both developer and client. A few important ones are:

  • Quick access to history using the revision links.
  • Easy edit and re-edit.
  • Visual conformation of data entered.

The page design used to handle this is between start and end template.

  • start of template

1. Click on Edit at the bottom of page. A box will come up. You will see step 2 below. Follow step 2 from the box. 2. Type info between lines and hit Preview Changes button at the bottom of the page. Then hit Save Changes button. You are done. The info you see is what I will get.

Only Complete Steps 1 and 2 once, and in order.

Above in between the two lines should be what you just entered.

  • end of template

Twiki was installed one day and the client had used it the next. This was after a period of a month of little data introduction. To harvest the data, just cut and paste into the HTML, leaving the page fresh.
