Twiki Notes
I have been focusing my research on the following areas:
- Installation
- Forms
- Skins and Plugins
- Other Things
Installation
Hardware / OS
- Gateway (Intel) Not sure the processor type and speed. (Haven't got the box yet, but this is what they tell me.)
- Not sure of the Hard disk size.
- Windows 2000
Useful Twiki Pages Found
Install Comments
I intend to try the Mod Perl approach from the
WindowsModPerlInstallCookbook. Speed will be important to the acceptance of the system and Mod Perl appears to be working and has all of the kinks out.
Forms
Forms have a great potential with this opportunity. We have a bunch of training documentation, a bunch of templates, and a bunch of client files built on those templates. I envision using a form to identify and classify pages to allow for better searching. I can also see forms used for change orders, todo lists, milestones or project planning, etc.
Plugins and Skins
I will need to make this look good in order to achieve buy in by my management. Along with being fast, looking good will avoid uninformed decisions on value. I plan to create a skin to allow the pages to look like the existing corporate standards.
Some of the Plugins are very interesting. Now that I have this document, I plan to keep track of the Plugins that I hope to deploy.
Other Things
I have also been looking into generating RSS feeds from Twiki. I just started to look into this, but it may have some very interesting applications. I envision setting things up so that key people can pull out a list of key pages that match their interests and compile them together in an RSS client. This is kind of like joining the search results of multiple unique searches into a single tool.
