eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL)
The XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) Project Committee is a coalition of more than 30 US finance, accounting, software and government organisations, which is promoting the use of
XML-based, XBRL, for the exchange of financial statements. It is hoped, by its supporters, that XBRL, (previously called XFRML), will provide the users of financial statements with a "new, free XML-based standard for preparing, formatting, distributing and analysing financial reports".
