Wiki Spam Alert Message
I am regularily sending out
WikiSpam alert messages to TWiki site owners who's TWiki has been spammed. Please help scan the internet and alert people of spam. A good way is to search for
twiki and a known spam keyword, such as
a n a p r o x,
b l o w,
b o o p s,
l e s b i a n,
c a r i s o p r o d o l,
c a s i n o,
f i o r i c e t,

p o k e r,
r i n g t o n e s,
s l u t s,
t r a m a d o l,
u l t r a c e t,
u l t r a m,
v a l t r e x,
v i a g r a,
x a n a x, or
x e n i c a l (words are spaced out so that twiki.org does not attract spammers.) You can reach the TWiki admin usually via the "Send feedback" link at the bottom, or via the TWiki/TWikiPreferences topic (in older installations.)
Sample e-mail template:
Subject: TWiki Feedback - please remove wiki spam from [domain name]
Hi,
thank you for using TWiki on your site.
I noticed wiki spam on your site:
[TWiki URL]
There is probably much more. [TWiki user] is a spammer,
there might be more.
HTML attachment spam is very damaging to the reputation
of your site, and also to TWiki. See for example
http://www.azstarnet.com/metro/166287
Please remove your TWiki installation or clean up the
spam. To clean up spam do not delete the spam from
the topic, rather, roll back the topic revision with
a cmd=delRev parameter to the edit script.
And please consider installing our latest
BlackListPlugin, it is a good defense against spam:

Read about spam issue at
http://www.structuredwikis.com/peter_2006-08-06.html
http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/WikiSpam and
http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/HtmlAttachmentSpam
I strongly recommend to require users to register
before they can post content.
Also, if not done already, please subscribe to the
twiki-announce mailing list so that you can get alerted
of new threats, see
http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/TWikiAnnounceMailingList
Lastly, if not done already, please consider listing
your TWiki at
http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Main/TWikiInstallation
Regards,
