Bug: Strange output when meta data is not defined

I have noticed that if one prints the value of metadata, e.g., TOPICPARENT, if that metadata is not defined (as in when looking at an older topic), the text returned is not the empty text, but some large invisible text (I did not debug what the text was that actually was returned).

Test case

Create a table cell in color and inside this cell print, e.g., TOPICPARENT. Look at a topic without this metadata defined. You will see a space twice the height of the normal text that you would see had the metadata be present.

Environment

TWiki version: Athens
TWiki plugins: Standard
Server OS: Solaris 8
Web server: Apache 1.3.5
Perl version:  
Client OS: W2K
Web Browser: IE 5.5
