TWiki Beta Testing Program

Introduction

Up to EdinburghRelease it was mainly the developers who tested TWiki during the beta release phase. While it was possible to catch many bugs, the tests were mainly covering the environment and applications of the developers. Developers typically have a good environment with more recent software releases installed (Apache, Perl, CPAN, etc.)

From FreetownRelease release on we introduce a beta testing program: The idea is to engage a larger group of TWiki users to test TWiki in many more environments and with many existing applications. This will hopefully result in more stable releases. Each release has a Beta Test Coordinator who is the liaison between the developers and the beta testers.

Role of Beta Test Coordinator

  • Compile list of beta testers
  • Communicate new releases to beta testers

Beta Testers

Beta testers are TWiki users who are not actively engaged in the devlopers community. Beta testers have an interest in testing beta releases to see if the upcoming TWiki release is compatible with their existing TWiki content and TWikiApplications. Beta testers are encouraged to file bugs in the TWikibug:WebHome web.

Beta Test Tracking

Code name topics of minor and major releases should track the following:

  • Beta start date
  • Beta end date
  • Beta Test Coordinator
  • List of beta testers
