Proposal: Space on TWiki.org Homepage for Twiki Inc

Twiki Inc is providing hosting for the twiki.org community free of charge. In addition, Twiki Inc employees use work time to enhance the TWiki project. TWiki Inc already has some ad space on the twiki.org homepage and on the download page.

This is a proposal to give Twiki Inc more exposure to the product and services it offers. Specifically, as the founder and BDFL of twiki.org and co-founder of Twiki Inc, Peter Thoeny is proposing to give Twiki Inc and its successor up to half of the "above the fold" space on the twiki.org homepage, up to max 550 x 550 pixel. The space is intended for ads for products and services that include the open source TWiki project. This commitment is for a one year period, with the option to renew annually. By giving Twiki Inc more exposure, the company will be able to contribute more resources to the open source TWiki project. In addition, Twiki Inc will provide a standard hosting instance for active TWiki contributors free of charge. Who qualifies as an active TWiki contributor is TBD, it can be something based on number of commits and/or TWiki.org page updates in the last three month.

This proposal will be one item on the agenda of the upcoming release meeting on 2010-11-08. You are invited to participate in the discussion.

Discussion

In my opinion, this is justified. I support this. Considering that Twiki Inc is a major contributor, I don't see a problem.
