Attached is the first version, just for testing; proof-reading the text is pending. Could someone with the right environment test if the character set is OK?

I got this feedback from Joel Nelson via e-mail:

your jp.po file for TWiki has the wrong language name in it.

In the file you submitted, you have

# please enter the name of your language here (written in the native language):
#: lib/TWiki/I18N.pm:293
msgid "_language_name"
msgstr "簡体字中国語"

obviously thats not right. i corrected it locally but im not going to take the time to register and commit the change to the svn server.

correct is:

msgstr "日本語"

and while you are at it, shouldn't it really be named "ja.po"?

Text above has Wikipedia:Mojibake - garbled multibyte chars. The corrected string should read "nihingo" (in Japanese.)
