Import TWiki Tables Into Spread Sheets
I've only tried this with
OpenOffice 1.1.3, but I presume it's duplicating functionality in Excel:
- Produce tables in a topic, however you like (eg. FORMATTEDSEARCH, plain table).
- Access the URL of the topic from OpenOffice as an external data source (eg. get tables from "AddOnPackage" topic):
- Insert->External Data...
- Click "..." (just entering a URL doesn't work for me, so...)
- Enter "http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins" as directory, hit ENTER.
- Enter "AddOnPackage" as file
- Click Open
- Select "HTML_1" from "Available tables/ranges".
- Click OK
- Voila! Table from web page appears in spreadsheet
- Table can be refreshed automatically (bad idea) or manually from Edit->Links.

Thanks Warwick - this is something I've had to do innumerable times myself, so it's obviously a common requirement! Yes, it works
the same way with Excel.
I made this a change request so we can get it into standard documentation.

When I try this in Excel (Data -> Import External Data) I can import the entire topic into Excel but I am unable to import just a single table from within the topic.

Same problem I am also facing , Its importing entire Topic , Above thing works well with Old version of TWiki (Cairo Release ). Actually while importing in Cairo Rel , we get tabs to select rows or Columns but, that not happening with Dakar , any work around to get it done.

I manage to get Tabs while importing data( edit table content from TWiki topics ) to excel after adding
in templates/body.pattern.tmpl template. But it disturbs the total look and feel of Site i,e webleft moves to down, images get scattered.
So can suggest right location to add table tag to get importing to excel working.
