RCS and/vs Attachments
As a side effect of a long discussion about a bug/misfeature in deleting (moving?) attachments, I learned that attachments, not just topics, are managed via
RCS. While in some sense it's irrelevant, since there's no mechanism for getting the history of attachments, this is also a problem because many installations have a text-only diff utility. In these cases either the ,v files will be as big or bigger than the attachment itself or they're useless.

No mechanism for getting the history: what is wrong with using
bin/viewfile, where you can enter a revision number? If you omit the revision number, you get the most recent version - similar to the
%ATTACHURL% approach.
bin/attach (available through the "manage" link in the attachment table) gives an overview over all versions. And this is on pure cygwin, which usually doesn't pass for "server grade".

I guess what I meant is there's no way of seeing diffs.

Renamed this topic to a less generic name (was RcsAndAttachments). Filled BasicForm.
