Feature Proposal: Hide all attachments in topic
Motivation
Users often add illustrations or other attachments to the topic that should be not visible as they are included or referenced through links in the document. However, if this is not done during attachment time, every such attachment has to be changed through a sequence of clicks.
It would be nice to have an operation (probably on the "More..." menu) to hide all attachments, or hide only specific ones.
Description and Documentation
Generate a form (probably on the "More...." menu which presents the user with a list of all attachments and a clickable box next to each. The user can select all attachments (or some), and upon submission all selected attachments are hidden.

Discussion
I agree. I would expand the scope for bulk handling of existing attachments. That is, the attachment screen that lists existing attachments could have a checkbox for each attachment (in each table row), and buttons to delete, hide/unhide, change comment and possible rename selected attachments. Bulk rename might not be possible, not sure what spec would be useful.
On a related note, for a new feature proposal, I think that we either should remove the attachment toggle, or at least have the attachments shown in open toggle state by default. We have reports that people cannot find attachments because they overlook the attachment toggle button. Just last week we had support question
Support.SID-00975.

As we are talking new features... here is one regarding attachments I always wish I had: Define a tag which gives an input text and a button; when clicked it will perform an attachment (ideally with hidden property), and then insert an
ATTACHURL/file instead of the button, using the name in the input as display name (an attribute could select to just use the name of the file without showing an input area). Or just show a button and obtain the name to display from the attach dialog. (Unfortunately, this does not allow, I think, to reuse the attach dialog, as we need to insert the new text into the topic as part of the attachment.)
The reason is that often one forgets the name of the attachment and when one wants to insert a reference to the attachment one has to go back and forth several times as one cannot see the names of the attachment in edit mode. This way, we can just insert this tag, such as "ATTACHME" and then substitute the name automagically.

Nice idea. Probably best realized as a new
AttachMePlugin?
