Discussion
I created this discussion topic on behalf of Will.
Personally I do not see this plugin as so essential that it should be distributed. I would not veto it though if there is a broad support for its inclusion.
I actually use this plugin at our Motorola TWiki but in a modified version that does not turn acronym type topics like
SVN into links when found in other webs. The reason is that we have an Acronym web and we ended up having links everywhere.
This could be resolved by having a new simple plugin setting so you can disable searching for $abbrevRegex
An additional problem with this plugin is that TOCs are not working when this plugin finds and links topics in a header. This may not be a bug in the plugin but in the core but the result is the same for the end-user.
The decision to include this or not should be taken at a Release Meeting decision AFTER a short debate on this topic for its inclusion.

I do not think many companies are using this plugin. According to the Apache log, FindElsewherePlugin.zip and .tgz have been downloaded 5 times. To keep the number of preinstalled plugins low I believe it should not go into the default distribution, however if there is broad support I will not push against it.

Could the low download count be related to when the plugin was last uploaded?
I use this plugin in every TWiki installation I do. I consider it to be essential for project team wikis.
Having said that, I don't think it should be included in the default distribution.

This topic is ready for vote at a release meeting. As it looks there is not a majority oppinion for adding it as a default plugin.
Since not everyone can show up at all release meetings you can also vote here. I have summarised the "votes" already given above.
