Subject: KampalaMeetingLog-2017-05-18.txt Date: May 18, 2017 at 3:47:36 PM PDT [15:04:34]   Hello Peter [15:05:02]   Hi Peter [15:06:48]   hi HaraldJoerg & HideyoImazu-san [15:06:51]   sorry to be late [15:07:09]   no worries. you didn't miss a lot [15:07:10]   got an errant and traffic was bad [15:07:32]   what's new in tokyo and germany? [15:07:58]   Finally, it got warmer and sunny this week [15:08:49]   it's cooler than usual, but it's getting hotter [15:09:07]   we are going to launch rockets on sat [15:09:12]   today's high will be 25C and tomorrow's 30C or so [15:11:04]   shall we start? [15:11:12]   http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/KampalaReleaseMeeting2017x05x18 [15:11:13]   Sure [15:11:28]   1. Feature Requests for Kampala Release [15:11:28]   2. Extensions [15:11:28]   3. Review Urgent and Not So Urgent Bugs [15:11:28]   4. TWiki Release Discussion [15:11:28]   5. Miscellaneous [15:11:34]   i have one misc [15:11:51]   but lets go one by one [15:11:59]   1. Feature Requests for Kampala Release [15:12:10]   http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/WebChanges [15:13:22]   nothing since last time [15:13:28]   anything on features? [15:13:42]   I don't have news [15:13:49]   ---++ 2. Extensions [15:13:59]   http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/WebChanges [15:15:00]   quiet here too [15:15:11]   anything on extensions? [15:15:14]   I only did the documentation and  build for PublishContrib for Perl 5.20 [15:15:53]   did you upload a new package? [15:15:57]   if not i can help [15:15:58]   Yes [15:16:01]   ok [15:16:21]   but i don't see the topic updated [15:16:39]   sorry, now i see after reload [15:16:42]   :-) [15:16:52]   thanks! [15:17:04]   ---++ 3. Review Urgent and Not So Urgent Bugs [15:17:11]   http://develop.twiki.org/~twiki/cgi-bin/view/Bugs/WebChanges [15:17:43]   Item7784 is now closed, that's again PublishContrib [15:17:54]   ok [15:18:03]   Item7809: Sanitize code [15:18:18]   we got a report that requires a fix [15:18:26]   i am on it [15:18:41]   it only applies if search is set to PurePerl [15:19:01]   the person who reported is doing more testing so i wait for his result [15:19:48]   TWikibug:Item7810: Case sensitive LDAPContrib login and group configuration parameters don't work [15:20:11]   i might look at this, depending on time [15:20:34]   TWikibug:Item7811: A few related GMT/BST (gmtime/localtime) / daylight-saving time queries/problems. TWiki uses GMT but (I believe probably) should use BST [15:20:38]   by HaraldJoerg [15:20:43]   anything to add? [15:20:49]   No, that's also by Tom Crane [15:21:16]   I just added a remark that this is the same story as Item7752 [15:21:38]   SERVERTIME and everything related to it is broken in 6.0.2 [15:21:44]   yes, just read now [15:22:30]   ah [15:22:37]   maybe I'm responsible [15:22:55]   let me take a look [15:23:02]   thank you HideyoImazu-san [15:23:12]   these are all changes since last time [15:23:16]   anything else? [15:23:43]   Item7808 is another problem in PublishContrib [15:24:11]   Not related to Perl 5.20. It seems that the Contrib isn't aware of protected attachments [15:24:32]   hmm, the develop server is kind of slow [15:25:49]   looks like, i am not familiar with this contrib, i use another publish extension [15:25:58]   ---++ 4. TWiki Release Discussion [15:26:09]   i have made no progress :-( [15:26:20]   same here :-( [15:27:28]   the sanitize code issue might warrant a new release [15:27:33]   not sure though [15:27:46]   it only applies to sites using PurePerl search [15:27:52]   default is native grep [15:28:19]   The Windows personal app is using PurePerl search [15:28:20]   what is your estimate of sites using default vs PurePerl? [15:29:25]   For non-Unix platforms PurePerl is always an option [15:29:37]   As well as for web servers written in Perl [15:29:40]   rebuild your windows personal is easy, right? not as complicated as a new twiki production release [15:29:53]   It is quite easy, yes [15:30:11]   I hope that the same build process can some day be used for TWiki, too [15:30:55]   ah, good point [15:31:22]   if possible i would like to avoid a 6.0.3 patch release and go for a new 6.1.0 production release [15:32:20]   but for 6.1.0 i'd like to have the app packaging in [15:32:42]   timing question, and question if the sanitizing warrants a new release [15:32:57]   we don't need to decide today [15:33:08]   anything else on release? [15:34:02]   I think some of the unit tests need work [15:34:37]   But that's not strictly related to a release [15:34:48]   ok [15:35:02]   ---++ 5. Miscellaneous [15:35:07]   i have one item [15:35:11]   do you have anything? [15:35:20]   I don't [15:35:44]   no [15:35:47]   it's about the develop.twiki.org hosting saga with datapipe [15:36:34]   after a lot of back on forth on the extra cost we agreed that i pay "just" $311 instead of around $700 [15:36:37]   so i did [15:36:44]   but now there is a new problem [15:37:03]   they are terminating the free hosting as of 16 august [15:37:31]   so i had the cost and now work of relocating the server [15:37:36]   kind of bummed about that [15:38:24]   so how should we proceed? [15:38:39]   option 1: move develop to twiki.org [15:38:48]   option 2: search for a new free provider [15:39:06]   option 3: get a new server in the cloud and pay [15:39:41]   i will follow up to look into option 1 with current provider [15:39:56]   for option 2 please help look around [15:40:36]   i think we should use option 3 as last option [15:40:44]   what is your take on this? [15:41:06]   it depends of cost. [15:41:46]   if the cost of a good enough server is minimal (e.g. 10 USD), option 3 is worth considering [15:42:51]   i don't think a $10 shared hosting is sufficient [15:43:01]   we need root login and enough memory [15:43:31]   maybe it's a tall order to have those for $10/month [15:43:32]   so aws or g cloud will be around $50-60 for a vm [15:45:34]   sorry I need to run now. [15:45:39]   TTYL [15:45:49]   HideyoImazu (ddfc2e55@gateway/web/freenode/ip.221.252.46.85) left IRC (Quit: Page closed) [15:46:04]   ok, let's close the meeting [15:46:21]   Ok [15:46:23]   thank you HaraldJoerg & hideyo-san!
