I've read these, possibly not thoroughly or completely, but enough to believe that they are very useful generally for the subject of this page:

• User Interfaces in Free Software -- Slashdot, 4/21/02 -- (as usual on Slashdot,) includes interesting links, some listed below
• Free software and good user interfaces, Havoc Pennington, ~ April, 2002 -- among other things, touches on the problem of too many options.

Recommended for Specific Needs

I've read parts (or all) of these, possibly not thoroughly or completely, but enough to believe that they are useful for specific items related to the subject of this page:

• Desktop Elegance, Mosfet, 04/26/2002 -- a rebuttal to complaints that the KDE UI is not elegant.
