We've found a fair number of sound cards using the Yamaha opl3-sax chipset while setting up ComputersForKids but often cannot successfully install them in Vector Linux. I have at least one at home that is a PnP card -- I suspect we may have to disable the PnP feature and set them for the "well-known" settings.
I've done a little bit of searching on Google to try to find the utility that will let me do that. (I've downloaded a few, but haven't tried them out yet.)

post-install ad1848 modprobe "-k" opl3; modprobe "-k" v_midi; modprobe "-k" softoss2
