When I upgraded Mandrake from 7.2 to 8.1 (and kde from 2.1 to 2.2.1) I found some changes I did not like. This is intended to be a list of those changes with solutions, where available.

All Instances of Konqueror in One "Box" with Popup List
Q: In Mandrake 7.2 kde, there was a separate "box" (in the area to the
right of the desktop selectors) for each browser window opened in
konqueror (whether they were all from one initial parent instance of
konqueror or separate instances). Now (under Mandrake 8.1), there is
only one box that displays a "pop up" list of the windows within an
instance of konqueror. Is this the expected behavior? Is there a way
to change it back to the behavior under Mandrake 7.2 kde?
A: (from David Joham): In the KDE control center, choose
LookNFeel -> Taskbar and uncheck "Group Similar Tasks". (This is a new "feature" of KDE. I didn't really like it either, so I found out how to turn it off.)
Selecting a Desktop Window Doesn't Change Application Boxes Displayed
Q: On Mandrake 7.2 with KDE, when I choose a different desktop using the selector buttons (1 thru 4) on the taskbar, the area to the right of the selector buttons (on the taskbar) shows only the applications running on that desktop.
On Mandrake 8.1, I see all the running applications (in the area to the right of the desktop) no matter which desktop I choose. Is this the expected behavior under kde on Mandrake 8.1?
A: When making the change which David described for the previous problem, I noticed the "Show all Windows" checkbox and unchecked it.
