export: A Linux command to establish
environment variables. Setting an environment variable in Linux is a two step process. First you establish the variable and a value for the variable by using the
set command, and then you set it up for use by using the export command.
(The presentation that Paul Ryan made on shells to the LVLUG (or the Linux sig of the LVCG) helped clarify this for me, or at least I have notes from that presentation which should clarify this for me -- they are (currently) on my home TWiki -- I'll have to move them to
WikiLearn and then make a cross-reference from here.)
