Recommended
most would-be Linux workers should focus on system administration, network management, or Web management. These days, those jobs tend to get consolidated, so it's wise to become competent in all three while mastering at least one.
To do that, you need to pick up a scripting language. I think it's best to get the basics of grep, awk, and sed under your belt and then add Perl and/ or Python to your skill set.
