Question

Hi, I am in the process of upgrading TWiki (Beijing). Is it required that I must upgrade at increment (Beijing->Cairo->Dakar->...) or can I just go to the top from Beijing. I just want to know before I wasted my time.

Environment

TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: solaris 5.8
Web server: Apache 2.0.54

Answer

ALERT! If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.

I suggest to install the latest TWiki in a new directory, and to copy your webs over to the new installation. Watch out that you do not copy over the TWiki web and some topics of the Main web. To copy over a web, copy twiki/data/Myweb and twiki/pub/Myweb. Copy/replace the default topics from the _default web into your existing webs, such as WebAtom, WebChanges, WebIndex, WebRss, WebSearchAdvanced, WebSearch, WebTopicCreator, WebTopicList.

See TWikiUpgradeGuide for upgrade details. See also HowToMigrateWikiBetweenServers, HowToRestoreFromBackup, MoveInstallationToOtherMachine, HowToMoveTwikiData and RelocatingTwikiSite.
