Question

Hello,

When I edit a page, it takes c. 10 seconds to load the page in the WYSIWYG editor. Is this to be expected? I am running the Debian-based appliance as a virtual machine on a very fast system -- I gave the VM 2 CPUs, and 512 MB of RAM.

Thanks,

AGS

FYI, I upgraded the TWiki which came with the appliance to the current version.

It may be normal the first time, but definitely not the second time. For instance, it loads in 1.2s from a Xen VM with 1/16th CPU& 256M ram in the US from my computer in France

Bear in mind that the WYSIWYG editor is a large chunk of Javascript. As such it has to be downloaded from the server, at least the first time you edit. Then the server has to respond to other AJAX requests that the editor makes. So network performance is very important. Also because it's JS, then client performance is important too. Try and use it with IE on an Asus crotchbook on the wrong end of a GPRS connection to see what I mean!
