Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: Perl version:
Category: CategoryEditing Server OS: Last update: 10 years ago

I have a twiki application the when submitted send an email with the data entered by user for their request, this works fine. What I am looking to do is add a unique reference id in the subject line of each mail recieved

Discussion and Answer

Use one of:

1. Date based ID, easiest with the epoch time:

  • Type: %SERVERTIME{$epoch}%
  • Result: 1769591154
  • Detail: VarSERVERTIME2.

2. Sequential number ID. Can be done with a SpreadSheetPlugin formula, with value stored in a persistent SetGetPlugin variable:

  • Type: %SET{ "email_ID" value="%CALCULATE{$INT(%GET{email_ID}%+1)}%" remember="1" }%%GET{email_ID}%
  • Result: 64
  • Detail: SpreadSheetPlugin, VarSET, VarGET.
