Discussion and Answer
You need to delete the password entry in the
twiki/lib/LocalSite.cfg file. Run configure, it will tell you the details.

It shows Password changed message but doesn't work.
Should it take time to load new password in file?

Specifically, delete the
$TWiki::cfg{Password} line in
twiki/lib/LocalSite.cfg and run configure again. Make sure
twiki/lib/ is owned by the webserver user.

Hi there,
I am in the same boat. I set configure password and go use it for admin login, but it says password is invalid. I have gone, and deleted the line $TWiki::cfg{Password} from
LocalSite.cfg.
drwxr-xr-x 4 apache apache 4096 Mar 29 07:35 lib

To add more, when I set the configure password, it doesnt even add line $TWiki::cfg{Password} in LocalSite.cfg file. May be a permissions problem ?

Very possible a permission issue. Make sure LocalSite.cfg is owned and writable by your webserver user.

Please confirm what is meant by 'run configure' in the first answer, and what should it tell you the details of?

When you have deleted the password entry in
lib/LocalSite.cfg as suggested, the
configure script prompts you for a new admin password and saves this (encrypted) as the new value for
$TWiki::cfg{Password}.

Thank you. Do you mean run the script '/twiki/bin/configure' in a web browser, and when it says 'Enter the configuration password. Your Password:' it actually means 'Choose a new password'?

I'm sorry, but no. This prompt means that you
have a password in your config file (
twiki/lib/LocalSite.cfg) and you need to enter it to proceed.
Only when there's no password in your configuration, the same URL shows a screen which allows you to reset (or initially set after a fresh installation) the password.
