Nuance Dragon
NaturallySpeaking 10 Professional
After too many years of typing and coding I have developed RSI in my hands wrists and forearms. As a result of this, I use Dragon
NaturallySpeaking (DNS) voice recognition software to continue with much of my PC work.
When browsing in Internet Explorer, DNS scans the current frame for hot links and their associated wording. This allows the user to "speak" the name of a hot link and DNS will activate the link as if it had been clicked on.
In many cases, when using TWiki, this doesn't work. Of course many of the links are wiki words which are generally unpronounceable, or certainly unrecognisable by DNS.
The workaround is a 2nd feature "click links". Dragon will then put a numbered icon next to each of the hot links in the current feud frame. You speak the number of the link and Dragon follows it as before.
Problem
==
note: this is not peculiar to our particular wiki site. The problem manifests itself on any wiki site including TWiki.org
My problem comes when the page is longer than the current viewed frame. Saying "click links" will work on the 1st page. Now, "Page down" and the frame in view is correct (1st line is what was the last line in the previous page). Ask Dragon to "click links" and no link icons are presented.
? So where are they?
Answer -- they're on the next page down!
"Page down" again, "click links" and the links appear two pages further on... etc.
This is not a problem with any other web page I have come across. It is only a problem with pages generated from TWiki.
Can anyone suggest what it is the TWiki engine is doing to confuse DNS in this situation?

Discussion and Answer
That is a bit outside of my comfort zone, e.g. I do not know.
You can test if this is TWiki skin specific or not. You can add a
?skin=name to any TWiki page to activate a skin that has been installed, where
name is the name of the skin. For example,
https://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Support/SID-00917?skin=plain activates the plain skin (no page decoration) on this topic. Visit
TWiki.TWikiSkinBrowser (on your TWiki) to see what skins are installed.

Many thanks Peter
setting the skin to plain has certainly improved matters.
